The funeral of Vasilis Filoras, the videographer of the UP Stories YouTube channel who died while volunteering in wildfire fighting efforts of Attica on Friday, will take place on Tuesday in Athens.
At first, Filoras was mistakenly thought to be a volunteer firefighter; however, he was a volunteer videographer, who was operating his drones in the area to assist the authorities to understand the magnitude of the fires they are facing.
The 38-year-old man was the first person to pass away as a result of the Greek fires, which numbered more than 500 across the country during the last few days.
Filoras passed away from an accident he suffered on his motorcycle while rushing to help.
The young man, who was a father of two children, was taken to the hospital after suffering severe head injuries after the accident on Friday. Tragically, he later passed away.
His funeral service will take place in the church of Constantine and Helen in Ano Liosia, Athens at 2:30 PM local time.
Vasilis Filoras, a Man of Service

Filoras was a drone technician and a specialized pilot who paved the way for others in this new technological field in Greece.
He used to make drones for the Greek Army, the Greek Public Broadcaster ERT and the Civil Protection of the country.
The Up Stories team on Youtube said goodbye to their dear friend and colleague, releasing a video to honor his memory.
“Have a good trip, up there, buddy. We will miss your smile and your kindness forever,” their colleagues stated.
The team kindly asked for any contributions to his family during this challenging time to be directed to Aegli Kampakou’s account in Piraeus Bank, ΙΒΑΝ: GR6601718580006858123878503.
Professional and volunteer firefighters, civilians injured in fires
One professional firefighter, four volunteer firefighters and five civilians were taken to hospitals on Thursday evening in Greece as the country continued to fight against wildfires on multiple fronts.
The firefighter, who was injured in the battle against the ongoing fire at Kryoneri in north Attica, is now hospitalized at the 251 Air Force General Hospital.
Two of the volunteer firefighters had been admitted to an ICU unit due to the severity of their injuries. Fortunately, the two other volunteers who were injured did not need any intensive treatment.
The five civilians who had to be rushed to a hospital were being treated at the KAT hospital in Athens. Three of these came from the north Attica area of Drossopigi, and two from the area of Kryoneri.
