Mock Dogfights Erupt Between Greek, Turkish Jets Near Crete

Turkish fighter aircraft harassed Greek jets who were returning to base on Crete on Thursday after a joint military exercise with Cypriot, French and Italian forces in the eastern Mediterranean.

According to the Greek Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred at around 11:30 in the morning, when six F-16s of the Hellenic Airforce were returning to the 115th Combat Wing at Souda base.

Turkish planes attempted to block their movement resulting in mock dogfights. Greek fighters came for reinforcement and proceeded to the immediate recognition and interception of the Turkish aircraft, the Ministry of Defense says.

The six Greek jets set off from Crete early on Thursday to join up with another two F-16 posted on Cyprus and France’s Rafale fighters.

The joint exercise, dubbed “Eunomia” after a Greek goddess of law and legislation, is being hailed as a resounding success as it demonstrates the Greek armed forces’ state of preparedness.

Κορονοϊός Ινδία: Για πρώτη φορά πάνω από 50.000 κρούσματα σε ένα 24ωρο
