A passing Greek ferry rescued a small child that was floating adrift in the open sea near the port of Rio, east of the city of Patras, on Monday.
According to the local website nafpaktianews.gr, the young girl was found in the sea area between Rio and Antirio. She was in a yellow and white inflatable that apparently was swept away from a near-by beach due to strong currents.

The ferry “Salaminomachos” which was doing the regular Rio-Antirio route approached the girl allowing members of the crew to rescue her.
According to the same reports, the young girl is unharmed. It is not yet known how the young girl escaped the attention of her parents and drifted into the open sea.
