A total of 183 new coronavirus cases were recorded by Greek health officials on Monday, along with four new deaths in the country.
Ten of the new cases were found through testing at points of entry around the nation.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Greece has now reached 10,317. Since the start of the pandemic in Greece, 266 people have died with the virus.
In response to an increased number of cases in the Cretan city of Heraklion, health officials have announced new emergency measures in hopes of curbing the spread of the virus.
The measures, which will take place starting at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, are expected to be in effect until the 15th of September.
Residents must wear face masks in both outdoor and indoor spaces. Any gatherings made up of nine or more people, in public or in private, will be banned.
In restaurants and cafes only four people are allowed at a table, unless they are close relatives, in which case six people may sit together.
Gatherings such as parties, religious services, and outdoor markets will not be allowed for the duration of these special measures.
Bars, restaurants, cafes, and other businesses must remain closed from midnight until 7 a.m. the next morning.
Similar measures were put in place on Friday on the Greek islands of Lesvos and Zakynthos.
