The European Parliament Calls for Sanctions Against Turkey Over Varosha

The European Parliament adopted on Thursday a resolution on the Cypriot coastal town of Varosha, calling on the European Council to impose sanctions on Turkey over the partial reopening of the town, which violates UN Security Council resolutions.

The resolution submitted by the European People’s Party (EPP), states that the European Council must “maintain its unified position vis-à-vis unilateral and illegal actions by Turkey” and “take action and impose tough sanctions” on Turkey, “in response to [its] illegal actions.”

Titled “Escalating tensions in Varosha following the illegal actions by Turkey and the urgent need for the resumption of talks,” it states that further sanctions “can only be avoided through dialogue, sincere cooperation and concrete progress on the ground.”

German MEP and leader of EPP Manfred Weber called on European leaders to finally act against Turkish provocations.

The ancient tree is 3000 years old, as determined by the international scientific community. It belongs to the local tree variety of tsounati, and was grafted at a height of 3 meters onto a wild olive tree. Because of the grafting, its trunk has been so beautifully shaped by nature that it resembles a sculpture. Κορονοϊός Ινδία: Για πρώτη φορά πάνω από 50.000 κρούσματα σε ένα 24ωρο

Η Ινδία ανακοίνωσε σήμερα, Πέμπτη 30 Ιουλίου, πάνω από 50.000 νέα ημερήσια κρούσματα για πρώτη φορά, λόγω της αύξησης των μολύνσεων στις μη αστικές περιοχές σε μια περίοδο κατά την οποία η κυβέρνηση χαλαρώνει περαιτέρω τους περιορισμούς στις μετακινήσεις και το εμπόριο.
