Λαγκάρντ : Ύφεση ως 12% στην ευρωζώνη φέτος, κατάσταση που δεν έχει προηγούμενο

Έτοιμη η ΕΚΤ για αύξηση του νέου έκτακτου QE, αποφάσεις για περαιτέρω διευκολύνσεις στον τραπεζικό δανεισμό

Συνεχίζει να κρούει κώδωνα κινδύνου η επικεφαλής της ΕΚΤ Κριστίν Λαγκάρντ προειδοποιώντας για ύφεση έως 12% στην ευρωζώνη φέτος και ζητώντας συντονισμένη αντίδραση από τις κυβερνήσεις.
Ενδεικτικό της κρισιμότητας της κατάστασης η έγκριση από την πλευρά της ΕΚΤ νέων μέτρων διευκόλυνσης για τον τραπεζικό δανεισμό, αλλά και η ετοιμότητά της για αύξηση των έκτακτων αγορών ομολόγων (QE) αν κριθεί αναγκαίο.

Ύφεση χωρίς προηγούμενο σε καιρό ειρήνης

Tα μέτρα για τον περιορισμό της εξάπλωσης του κοροναϊού έχουν παγώσει την οικονομική δραστηριότητα σε όλες τις χώρες της ευρωζώνης και την υπόλοιπη υφήλιο, τόνισε η Κριστίν Λαγκάρντ σε διαδικτυακή συνέντευξη Τύπου, υπογραμμίζοντας πως η νομισματική ένωση είναι αντιμέτωπη με μία συρρίκνωση που δεν έχει προηγούμενο σε καιρό ειρήνης.
Όπως είπε, στο πρώτο τρίμηνο του 2020 που ήταν μερικώς μόνον επηρεασμένο από τον κορωνοϊό, το ΑΕΠ της ευρωζώνης μειώθηκε κατά 3,8% σε σχέση με το τέταρτο τρίμηνο του 2019. Η ίδια προϊδέασε για μια πολύ βαθιά ύφεση στο δεύτερο τρίμηνο του 2020, λέγοντας πως θα υπάρχει μια πιο καθαρή εικόνα για τη συρρίκνωση της οικονομίας τον Ιούνιο.
Η Λαγκάρντ επισήμανε ότι με βάση τις προβλέψεις των οικονομολόγων της ΕΚΤ, το ΑΕΠ της ευρωζώνης μπορεί να συρρικνωθεί φέτος κατά 5% ως 12%.
Καθώς θα αίρονται τα περιοριστικά μέτρα, η οικονομική δραστηριότητα θα ανακάμψει, αλλά η ταχύτητα και το μέγεθος της είναι εξαιρετικά αβέβαια, τόνισε.

Χρειάζονται περισσότερα από τις κυβερνήσεις

Η πρόεδρος της ΕΚΤ καλωσόρισε τα μέτρα που έλαβαν οι κυβερνήσεις και οι θεσμοί της ευρωζώνης για τη στήριξη των εργαζομένων, των επιχειρήσεων και των νοικοκυριών, αλλά υπογράμμισε πως χρειάζεται πιο συντονισμένη δράση για την αντιμετώπιση της κρίσης.

Ισχύει απολύτως το «ό,τι χρειαστεί» από την πλευρά της ΕΚΤ

Παράλληλα, η Λαγκάρντ ανέφερε ότι το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο είναι αποφασισμένο να συνεχίσει να στηρίζει τα νοικοκυριά και τις επιχειρήσεις ώστε να διασφαλίσει τη μεσοπρόθεσμη σταθερότητα των τιμών.
Ειδικότερα, σημείωσε ότι η ΕΚΤ είναι διατεθειμένη να κάνει περισσότερο όσον αφορά τις αγορές στοιχείων ενεργητικού.
Όπως ανέφερε, από τις αρχές Μαρτίου η ΕΚΤ αγοράζει ομόλογα μέσω του νέου έκτακτου προγράμματος Pandemic Emergency Purchase Programme (PEPP), συνολικού μεγέθους 750 δισ. ευρώ. Οι αγορές αυτές θα συνεχιστούν με ευέλικτο τρόπο σε όλες τις κατηγορίες ενεργητικού και τις χώρες.
«Θα συνεχίσουμε τις καθαρές αγορές στοιχείων ενεργητικού μέσω του PEPP ωσότου το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο κρίνει ότι η φάση της κρίσης του κορονοϊού έχει παρέλθει, αλλά σε κάθε περίπτωση ως το τέλος του έτους» διευκρίνισε.
Επιπλέον, τόνισε, η ΕΚΤ θα συνεχίσει τις αγορές μέσω του προγράμαμτος APP με μηνιαίο ρυθμό 20 δισ. ευρώ, μαζί με τις επιπρόσθετες αγορές 120 δισ. ευρώ, ως το τέλος του έτους.
«Συνεχίζουμε να αναμένουμε ότι οι μηνιαίες καθαρές αγορές μέσω του APP θα διαρκέσουν για όσο καιρό χρειαστεί για να ενισχύσουμε τον υποστηρικτικό αντίκτυπο των επιτοκίων μας, και θα διακοπούν λίγο προτού αυξήσουμε τα επιτόκια της ΕΚΤ» πρόσθεσε.
«Την ίδια στιγμή, στο τρέχον τάχιστα μεταβαλλόμενο οικονομικό περιβάλλον, το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο παραμένει πλήρως δεσμευμένο να κάνει ότι είναι αναγκαίο εντός της εντολής του για να στηρίξει όλους τους πολίτες στην ευρωζώνη σε αυτή τη δύσκολη περίοδο. Αυτό αφορά πρωτίστως τον ρόλο μας στο να διασφαλιστεί ότι η νομισματική μας πολιτική μεταδίδεται σε όλα τα μέρη της οικονομίας και σε όλες τις χώρες με γνώμονα την εντολή για σταθερότητα των τιμών.»
» Είμαστε, συνεπώς, πλήρως προετοιμασμένοι να αυξήσουμε το μέγεθος του PEPP και να προσαρμόσουμε τη σύνθεση του, κατά όσο και για όσο χρειαστεί. Σε κάθε περίπτωση το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο είναι έτοιμο να προσαρμόσει όλα τα εργαλεία του με τον δέοντα τρόπο, για να διασφαλίσει ότι ο πληθωρισμός κινείται προς τον στόχο με βιώσιμο τρόπο, σε ευθυγράμμιση με τη δέσμευση για συμμετρία» επισήμανε η Λαγκάρντ.

Κορονοϊός Ινδία: Για πρώτη φορά πάνω από 50.000 κρούσματα σε ένα 24ωρο

Government, Opposition Clash over Bill to Curb Demonstrations in Greece

As the vote for the bill to regulate demonstrations is about to go up for a vote in the Greek Parliament Thursday, there continue to be fierce reactions from the opposition, unions and other sectors of society.
