Πρωτόγνωρες εικόνες εκτυλίσσονται στις ΗΠΑ που αποτυπώνουν το μέγεθος της κοινωνικής αναταραχής μετά τη δολοφονία του 46χρονου Αφροαμερικανού Τζορτζ Φλόιντ από αστυνομικό. Το σκηνικό σε πολλές πολιτείες παραμένει έκρυθμο με βίαιες συγκρούσεις μεταξύ διαδηλωτών – αστυνομίας.

Μετά τον τραυματισμό ενός ακόμη αστυνομικού, ο οποίος μαχαιρώθηκε στο λαιμό, το πρωί της Κυριακής (τοπική ώρα) βρέθηκε το πτώμα ενός άνδρα κοντά σε καμένο αυτοκίνητο στη Μινεάπολις, σύμφωνα με τις αρχές της πόλης.

Η αστυνομία ειδοποιήθηκε για ένα όχημα το οποίο φλεγόταν, σύμφωνα με τον Τζον Έλντερ, τον εκπρόσωπο της αστυνομίας της πόλης.

Όταν οι πυροσβέστες έσβησαν τη φωτιά, οι αστυνομικοί βρήκαν το πτώμα ενός άνδρα που βρισκόταν σε απόσταση μερικών μέτρων από το καμένο αυτοκίνητο και το οποίο έφερε μώλωπες. Η ταυτότητα του θύματος και η αιτία θανάτου του δεν έχουν ακόμη διευκρινιστεί.

Η περιοχή έχει αποκλειστεί από τους αστυνομικούς του εγκληματολογικού, οι οποίοι έχουν σπεύσει επί τόπου, ενώ έχει ξεκινήσει έρευνα για τις συνθήκες του περιστατικού.

Μαχαίρωσαν αστυνομικό

Προηγουμένως, σύμφωνα με το CNN που επικαλείται τον τοπικό σερίφη, ένας αστυνομικός μαχαιρώθηκε στο λαιμό κατά τη διάρκεια των διαδηλώσεων στην πόλη Τζάκσονβιλ των ΗΠΑ. Όπως είπε ο Μάικ Ουίλιαμς, ο αξιωματικός «μαχαιρώθηκε στο λαιμό και βρίσκεται στο νοσοκομείο».

Ο Ουίλιαμς πρόσθεσε ότι οι διαδηλωτές πέταξαν πέτρες και τούβλα σε άλλους αστυνομικούς κατά τη διάρκεια των διαδηλώσεων αργά το Σάββατο, ενώ πολλά άτομα συνελήφθησαν.

Από την πλευρά του ο δήμαρχος του Τζάκσονβιλ, Λένυ Κάρι, δήλωσε στους δημοσιογράφους ότι η διαμαρτυρία ξεκίνησε αρχικά ως ειρηνική διαδήλωση με περίπου 1.200 άτομα, αλλά στη συνέχεια μετατράπηκε σε βίαιη κινητοποίηση.

«Δεν πρόκειται να αφήσουμε την πόλη μας να καεί συθέμελα» πρόσθεσε ο Κάρι.

Σημειώνεται πως σε τουλάχιστον 25 πόλεις σε 16 πολιτείες έχει επιβληθεί απαγόρευση κυκλοφορίας, κάτι που δεν ισχύει ακόμη στο Τζάκσονβιλ.

Εμπρησμοί, βανδαλισμοί και ξυλοδαρμοί

Τις τελευταίες ημέρες, οι δρόμοι των πόλεων της Αμερικής έχουν γεμίσει με ανθρώπους που ένωσαν τις φωνές τους με οδύνη και οργή. Ωστόσο, αν και κάποιες διαμαρτυρίες ήταν ειρηνικές, κάποιες άλλες κατέληξαν σε χάος και καταστροφή.

Κάποιοι πέταξαν μπουκάλια και πυροτεχνήματα σε αστυνομικούς. Άλλοι έκαψαν κτίρια και περιπολικά, λεηλάτησαν καταστήματα, βανδάλισαν περιουσίες.

Η Αστυνομία απάντησε με πλαστικές σφαίρες, δακρυγόνα και συλλήψεις. Οι δήμαρχοι σε τουλάχιστον 25 πόλεις επέβαλαν απαγόρευση κυκλοφορία, ενώ κάποιες πολιτείες ζήτησαν τη βοήθεια της Εθνοφρουράς.

Πέρα από το «Δεν μπορώ να αναπνεύσω», ένα ακόμα σύνθημα ακούστηκε για Πέμπτη μέρα στις ΗΠΑ: «Όχι δικαιοσύνη, όχι ειρήνη».
