Greece Issues Vaccination Certificate as Cases Climb to 1,460 Friday

Greece began issuing a digital vaccination certificate for its citizens who have received both doses of the coronavirus shot on Friday.

The certificates feature the vaccinated person’s data, including which shot they received against Covid-19 and when they completed both doses, along with a unique QR code.

Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of State and Digital Governance, has headed the effort to bring Greece into the digital age.

Speaking to AMNA, Pierrakakis stressed that Greece’s vaccination certificate is highly protected from fraud, saying “the digital certificate is secure, it cannot be forged and has a digital stamp.”

Those who have been fully inoculated against the coronavirus are able to acquire the vaccine certification, which comes in virtual or printed form, the day after they receive their second dose.

Applicants can fill out their information on a digital platform, including their AMKA number and their codes for the government platform TaxisNet, to receive record of their inoculation.

An estimated 15,000 certifications have already been sent out to inoculated Greeks as of Friday.

The virtual record of one’s vaccination status is not mandatory, but it may be used for traveling or foregoing coronavirus restrictions in the future.

Greece Records 1,460 Cases Friday

A total of 1,460 cases of Covid-19 were diagnosed in Greece on Friday, which represents 60 more than those recorded in the country on Thursday, just one day before.

The median age of those who have been diagnosed with Covid-19 is 44, yet the median age of those who have passed away with the virus in Greece is 79.

Nearly half of the total cases diagnosed in Greece were found in Attica, where a total of 722 instances of the coronavirus were identified.

Athens, Greece’s capital and largest city, is located in the region of Attica.

Transmission of the virus is particularly high in the center of Athens, where 176 cases of the virus were identified on Friday.

In Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, a total of 142 cases of Covid-19 were identified in the last 24 hours.

Tragically, 28 people with the coronavirus passed away in the country over the past 24-hour period, which is just one more than those recorded Thursday.

Currently, 325 patients with Covid-19 are intubated in Greece, five more than those who were intubated in the country on Thursday.

Kalymnos, Kordelio-Evosmos under strict lockdown

The island of Kalymnos, located in the Dodecanese island chain, and the municipality of Kordelo-Evosmos, near Thessaloniki, will be under strict lockdown starting Saturday.

Greek Minister for Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias announced the anti-virus measures, which call for the closure of all non-essential businesses as well as schools, during a press conference on Friday.

The strict lockdown will be in place in the regions until March 1.

Currently, Attica, Achaea, Evia, and Mykonos are under the same restrictions.

Total 177,494 Covid-19 cases diagnosed in Greece

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total 177,494 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

Of the cases diagnosed in Greece in the past seven days, 49 are associated with foreign travel and 1,615 have been linked to contact with a known case.

Of the 325 patients intubated currently, 88.6% are over the age of 70 or suffer from preexisting conditions.

Additionally, a total of 1,267 patients have been discharged from ICUs around the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The 27 new deaths recorded on Friday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 6,249, and 95.6% of those who have passed away with the virus were over the age of 70 or suffered from underlying health issues.

Greek, Armenian Genocide Recognized by the Netherlands

Μουσακάς με κολοκύθια και πουρέ πατάτας

Εκτέλεση Τσιγαρίζετε στο ελαιόλαδο το ψιλοκομμένο κρεμμύδι, προσθέτετε τον κιμά, αλάτι, πιπέρι, την τομάτα, ένα φλιτζάνι τσαγιού νερό και σιγοβράζετε μέχρι να ψηθεί ο κιμάς. Κόβετε τα κολοκύθια σε ψιλές φέτες, τα αλευρώνετε και τα τηγανίζετε. Ετοιμάζετε τον πουρέ, σύμφωνα με τις οδηγίες του κουτιού, χρησιμοποιώντας όμως μόνο γάλα.
