China Cultural Center in Athens Launches Virtual Kung Fu Competition

In cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Athens, the China Cultural Center in Athens has launched a virtual kung fu and video contest.

The contest, aimed at showing the beauty and power of Chinese martial arts, was announced on February 14 and will run until March 7.

Due to coronavirus restrictions and lockdowns, kung fu enthusiasts around the world have had to put a hold on competitions and showcases.

Hoping to revive passion for the art, which of course has been practiced in China for centuries, the China Cultural Center in Athens has launched two virtual events.

The first is an online kung fu competition, during which athletes can show off their skills in martial arts. Those interested in competing can register for the virtual event here, until February 25.

The live-streamed competition will take place on February 27, where athletes can show off their kung fu skills.

The second portion of the event involves a video contest that will run until March 5.

Those interested in creating a video that shows off their talents with martial arts, the beauty of Chinese kung fu, or how it is included in a healthy lifestyle, are encouraged to post their videos on Facebook or Tiktok.

Their post should include a short text explaining the video, and they should tag the China Cultural Centre on both platforms.

The prizes for both competitions include exclusive items from China, as well as unique medals featuring Chinese lettering and symbols.

The winners of both events will be announced on the cultural center’s TikTok and Facebook pages on March 8.
